Awaypay revolutionizes financial management for airline crew members, offering a mobile-friendly web app to automate benefits, track flights, and connect crew members on the go.
Awaypay, initiated by an Australian client, was specifically designed to meet the needs of airline crew members — such as flight attendants and pilots. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by these professionals, who often rely on mobile devices due to constant travel, Awaypay aims to provide a seamless, mobile-first financial management platform.
The primary goal was to develop a web application optimized for mobile use, ensuring accessibility and efficiency for users who are predominantly on the go. The application needed to allow crew members to easily track and manage benefit payments, view invoices, and automate payment processes — enhancements that provide transparency and simplicity compared to traditional methods used by airlines.
We delivered a comprehensive solution that included the following:
Prioritizing a mobile-focused design tailored to the on-the-go lifestyle of crew members, ensuring the application operates flawlessly on mobile devices while remaining fully functional on desktop computers.
Implementation of features such as real-time flight tracking and destination weather updates, viewing upcoming flight patterns, and a unique 'Who's Nearby' function that shows other crew members available in the same location for potential meetups.
Easy access to financial data, including upcoming and past payments and automated invoice management, which significantly reduces the administrative burden on crew members.
The project utilized a robust stack, including Next.js for front-end and back-end development, Supabase for database management, and Next UI for user interface components. The initial web design was created in Figma, and the external website is hosted on Webflow, while the application is hosted on Vercel. Plans include the future conversion of the web application into a native mobile app for iOS and Android using the Capacitor hybrid platform for better accessibility and performance.
Awaypay successfully transforms how crew members manage their finances by unifying essential services on a single platform for ease of use and transparency. The platform not only simplifies financial transactions but also enriches users' lifestyles through valuable community features and operational updates.
The client was extremely satisfied with the implemented solution, highlighting the innovation and user-centric design we brought to the project.
